This extraordinary SEMA build is looking for a new home!

1963 marked the beginning of the second generation of the Chevrolet Corvette, and with the new design came a new name and a slew of new options that would shape the direction of the car for the next 50 years. Named after an earlier race car, the Sting Ray was the first Corvette to feature independent rear suspension and hidden headlights, traditions that would continue through the next three generations.

The new Bill Mitchell design boasted improved steering and aerodynamics along with a reduction in weight and was the first Corvette to be offered with the Z-06 performance package. Although the second generation Corvettes continued through to 1967, '63 was the only year when they were made with the highly coveted split rear window design and hood vents.

Following the tradition that '63 created for the Corvette, every post-second generation car had its performance improvements, and by 2008, not only had the Corvettes independent rear suspension been perfected but GM had fitted the car with its revolutionary LS3 engine. When the eighth '63 Split Window Coupe built made its way into the American Speed Shop of Bloomington, Indiana in 2016, it received a restoration that would feature the best mechanical and comfort advances from the sixth generation car, while leaving the best parts of the original '63 design intact.

This C2 Split Window Restomod is powered by a 525-horsepower LS3 engine, with a mass of specially made parts, mated to a Tremec 5 speed transmission and a Danna 44 third member with 4.11:1 Richmond gears. The professionally fabricated chassis features C5 front and C6 rear suspensions with ZR1 6-piston disc brakes and 2016 Z06 wheels with custom Nitto Invo redline tires.

The interior was updated with all of the modern day amenities including red stressed-leather upholstery with billet and carbon fiber accents, premium carpeting, NU Relics power windows, and an AM/FM bluetooth stereo. While the chassis, powertrain, and interior changes were dramatic, the exterior received only a custom Platinum Flake and Pearl paint job. The car was displayed at the 2016 SEMA show and is now being offered for sale by Fusion Luxury Motors for $289,950.
