Own one of the hottest muscle cars from the '70s

This 1978 Pontiac Trans Am is ready to cross the auction block through Vicari Auction in Biloxi, Mississippi from October 10th-12th, 2019. This is the perfect chance to get your hands on one of the hottest muscle cars of the ‘70s, one that is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike. This was one of the final large-displacement muscle cars before Pontiac made the switch to the F-body platform in 1982.

The Y88 Special Gold Edition was only available on the 1978 Trans Am, and it was slathered in Solar Gold metallic paint complete with gold accents throughout. The Firebird is a very distinct car, even non-car enthusiasts can point it out from the days of Smoky and the Bandit. But if you were still unsure, the large Firebird mural on the hood is another dead giveaway. It also sits on the original, yet exclusive, 15-inch cast aluminum wheels wrapped with Cooper Cobra radials.

In addition, the car came equipped with a more powerful version of the Pontiac 400 engine in the form of a 6.6-liter V8, a variant of the L78, that was rated at 185-horsepower straight from the factory. Power is shifted through a 3-speed automatic transmission. On top of that, the Trans Am was outfitted with a shaker hood scoop, dual exhaust, and Saf-T-Track limited-slip differential. Out back is a GM8 Posi-traction rear axle that houses 2.56 gears. For handling, the factory suspension consists of sway bars, shocks and springs, and bringing everything to a halt are front power disc brakes and rear drums.

If you're in the market for a car that will turn heads and start conversations, look no farther. Go ahead and register to bid on this beautiful old-school 1978 Trans Am that also comes with plenty of attitude.
