Wood You Buy This 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer For $25K?

Long before the Range Rover and Cadillac Escalade became the standard for luxury SUVs, there was the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Fine tuned over a 28-year period (1963 until 1991), the Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer was a rough and rugged SUV that hid a soft, luxurious interior. As many of these were built over the years, few have survived as clean as this 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer being sold by 4-Wheel Classics.

While the Grand Wagoneer is becoming a popular vehicle among collectors and enthusiasts, back then it was just an SUV with seating for a family and the off-road capabilities of a Jeep. The design of the Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer changed very little from 1963 until 1991, but the 1989 to 1991 models have become the most popular among buyers. These years saw added refinement, comfort and luxury once Chrysler bought AMC.

As far as this 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer goes, it has been partially restored in recent years receiving a new paint job – in the same factory Charcoal Gray hue – four years ago, and the iconic wood paneling that is in perfect condition. The 360 CID V8 was rebuilt and nearly everything on the engine is new, while the previous owner added an aluminum intake manifold and Edelbrock carburetor for improved performance. Even the Dana 44 axles were also rebuilt to ensure this Grand Wagoneer can still tackle any terrain.

In total, this SUV has about $11,000 worth of receipts showing work that has been done over the last five years. That and the overall condition attest for how well this Grand Wagoneer was taken care since 1989.
