To some, having “El Camino” and “pickup truck” in the same sentence is a bit strange. That’s because the vehicle doesn’t necessarily fit the mold of pickups today–what with their off-road styling cues and high ride height. The Chevy El Camino, like the Ford Ranchero for that matter, is essentially a two-door station wagon with its rear roof sections removed to open up like a pickup truck bed that could haul about a half-ton of cargo.

Under the hood, this pickup is powered by a 283 cubic-inch V8 engine mated to a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission. The restoration was just completed and has only break-in miles on her. The beauty has power disc brakes up front with new power steering and boosters. It was treated to a complete new exhaust with all-new body mounts as well. The car now sits on American Racing wheels wrapped in new tires to boot. Other highlighted features include a new front end, new rear quarters, all new glass, no Bondo, and the original tailgate.

The car firs right up, runs well, and drives perfectly. It was recently taken on a five-hour drive on highways and side roads alike, which confirmed its quality performance. This El Camino is not expected to last, so act fast if you are a fan and admirer of its unique beauty and classic essence.
