What’s more, it’s a replica of an actual working police car from 1964.

The Dodge Dart received quite a few facelift changes for the 1964 model year, including a new grille and trim changes. It was also Dodge’s Golden Anniversary that year. The more notable news came in the form of a newly added V8 engine, delivering 180 horsepower from a 273 cubic-inch motor. Models included the base Dodge Dart 170, the intermediate 270 model, and the upscale Dart GT.

The vehicle you see here is a 1964 Dodge Dart 270 and it’s currently up for sale through Classic Auto Mall. This model, however, is highly special and was built as a tribute to the Seattle Polie Department. While the department’s full-time fleet consisted of mostly Fords during the ‘60s, they also had some Dodge Darts in service. This 1964 Dodge Dart received a few performance upgrades and some police goodies. It is an actual replica of a working police car from that year.

This car is virtually rust free, and retains its original exterior bodywork and design. The stunning white paint job is in excellent condition and complements the lustrous brightwork. It sits on four plain white steel wheels with the iconic Dodge wheel covers. Police equipment on the outside includes vintage emergency lights mounted behind the grille and a mechanical siren. The Seattle Police logo is magnetically adorned to the door and can be removed at your leisure.

The interior looks just like it did from the factory with a two-tone dashboard, the original steering wheel, a long brown vinyl bench, and rear bench. The original push-button transmission has been replaced by a column shift from a 1966 Plymouth Valiant. The car also shows just a little over 20,000 miles on the odometer.

This police replica runs a bit stronger than the standard ’64 Dart thanks to a 1977 360 cubic-inch motor with Magnum cylinder heads. Other features include an Edelbrock Performer cam with a Magnum 1.6:1 rocker arm ratio. It also has a Comp Cam double-roller timing chain and Hughes Performance cam snout extension with a standard fuel pump. A 1977 A-904 automatic transmission replaces the pushbutton-activated standard transmission on the original Dart. Additional powerplant mods include a Mopar Performance dual plane intake manifold, a 750 CFM Edelbrock performer, Raybestos clutch, a Turbo Action shift kit, and deep pan. The modified suspension is made up of Mopar Performance 524912 torsion bars, an Adco front sway bar, and six-leaf rear springs. A custom driveshaft throws power to the rear’s 8.75 axle.

The Seattle Police Department (SPD) is the primary law enforcement agency in the city of Seattle in Washington state. The SPD has a number of specialty units and has seen a number of officers die in the line of duty. This 1964 Dodge Dart is a lovely tribute and honors those who serve the city and put their lives at risk every single day. Apart from admiring the beauty of the car itself, be sure to take a moment to think of those who protect the community and keep us safe.
