This rugged 4x4 would make a neat retro trail rig.

For about 25 years, Chevrolet’s K5 Blazer existed as a full-size SUV that shared a platform with the C/K Series of pickup trucks. Recently, Chevrolet reintroduced the Blazer name to its lineup, but it’s a crossover, and quite frankly – the polar opposite of this 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer, a muscular body-on-frame SUV.

Restore A Muscle Car LLC in Lincoln, Nebraska offers this Blazer for sale. If the name looks familiar, it’s because the same establishment is also selling the 1977 Chevrolet K-10 that we recently featured. They claim that this Blazer is a highly optioned model, and a photo of the option list physically stamped onto the glovebox is proof of that.

The exterior of this Blazer seems unrestored, with plenty of bits of patina, though there are also some minor dings throughout and a few surface rust spots in the lower parts. However, it seems to be in mostly decent shape, and it’s also the kind of truck that you wouldn’t feel bad using for its intended purpose, especially knowing it has factory skid plates for extra undercarriage protection.

The interior features pretty brown-colored upholstery, and it nicely complements the yellow exterior. It doesn’t seem that this example has any carpeting, but that’s less clean up for after an off-road adventure. Despite the lack of floor covering, this Blazer features the Cheyenne equipment with options such as a rear seat, air conditioning, and a tilt steering column.

Under the hood, you’ll find a 350 cubic inch V8 engine, which pairs to a 3-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission and a 4x4 system. Unfortunately, the seller does not specify the miles on this Blazer.

Restore A Muscle Car LLC is hoping to get $8,900 for this first-generation Blazer. Do you think this Chevy is the right 4x4 for you, or would you rather have something a little newer?
