This Is One Wildly Customized 1976 International Scout Restomod

At first glance, it’s fairly difficult to define what the vehicle above really is. Right off the bat, you probably noticed the stroker V8 and blower, and the hardcore 4x4 bits. That being said, is this a dune buggy of sorts or a hot rod? No matter what you want to call it, it’s pretty rad. What we do know is that it’s a custom build based off of a 1976 International Scout and Streetside Classic has it up for sale. The current asking price is set at a reasonable $32,995 and the car is in excellent shape. After all, there are just 3,000 miles on the engine and under 6,500 miles on the entire build.

The Scout is an off-road vehicle that was manufactured by International Harvester from 1961 until 1980. It was a predecessor for more sophisticated utility vehicles to come and a pioneer in the light-duty truck market. The International Harvester Scout was an obvious competitor to the Jeep and it’s not hard to see how or why.

The Scout restomod you see here is a custom machine that is bound to get notice no matter where it goes. The bright yellow exterior paint is also a contributing factor, as is the diamond plating on the front, rear, and fenders. The tubular front-end doubles as a push bar, and the mounting point for the headlights and triple spotlights. If you thought that was a lot of lights, you’ll find even more and a full air horn setup on the soft top so you can light up the trail ahead and let the passersby hear you coming. The frame up front also houses tow hooks and a proper trailer hitch with plug-in so that you are ready for any wild adventure, anytime. This is truly a go-anywhere machine; it is road legal in in most (if not all) areas, meaning that you can also use it in the roads.

The interior of this bad boy also sports the bold yellow theme with plenty of bright diamond plating reinforcements. The entire cabin is highly durable right down to those vinyl high-back bucket seats to ensure comfort and longevity. There are even cup holders, grab handles, and a CB radio so you can really enjoy the ride. This restomod is built to be driven and includes a grippy steering wheel, and an AutoMeter gauges package with a large tachometer.

This Scout was professionally built by Triple R Performance. The heart and soul of this offroad beast is a 383 cubic-inch stroker V8 with a Weiand 144 blower on top. It’s paired to a three-speed automatic transmission with a shift kit for added performance benefits. Just look at that air grabber coming out of the hood and ready to release some real power. This 1976 Scout is also equipped with go-fast goodies like a Holley 700 four-barrel carb kit and Hedman shorty headers feeding the dual exhaust. This entire built sits on Mickey Thompson Baja tires and sports a two-speed 4x4 transfer case to encourage some off-road fun.
