The Indianapolis 500 race has used a pace car every year since 1911. At the beginning of the race, the pace car is responsible for leading the assembled starting grid around the track for a predetermined number of laps. These laps are un-scored warm-up laps, essentially. It is also responsible for limiting the speed of competing cars in the case of a caution period (yellow flag), such as bad weather or obstruction on the track. At the end of the caution period, the pace car leaves the track and normal racing resumes.

This fourth-gen Camaro Z28 sports ribbonlike colored graphics and a two-tone interior to further its “special edition” presence. The exterior is black until the 3/4^th waterline, then white is on the lower quarter. The pinstriping from the front to the back ties the entire look together with special badging and a Speedway logo on the panels. The gorgeous white wheels carry over the lower white paint job to maintain a neat look regardless of the adornments.

The interior cloth seats sport a unique white to black confetti fade with an overlay of more colorful ribbon. The front bucket seats and rear 2+2 seat are devoid of any unusual wear and tear. The cabin is in fairly good condition, including the clean headliner and crack-free dashboard.

The 1993 Camaro Z28 is powered by a 350 cubic-inch LT1 V8 paired to a four-speed automatic transmission that delivers 275 horsepower. The LT1 engine was constructed with a cast-iron block and aluminum heads. This model is also equipped with a 10-bolt 3.23 Posi rear end. The undercarriage holds a superb Flowmaster exhaust system that enhances its power and emits an attractive soundtrack to boot.
