With a new powertrain and exceptional body, this Chevelle is the ultimate sleeper!

The 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle was a hot car of its time, and an attractive collectible for today’s enthusiasts. While some are used in drag racing, and even road racing, the majority of the mid-1960s Chevelles you’re likely to run across in this condition are all about show, but this 1965 certainly shows that there’s an exception to every rule! While this example is an outstanding show car, it’s also packing the modern drivetrain of a 5th-generation ZL1 Camaro under the hood, and you’d be in for a bad time if you tried to pick a fight with it, on or off the track.

Dropped in only 1,000 miles ago, the LSA supercharged LS3 crate engine with aftermarket cam and monster tune, this beastly engine is putting down about 650-horsepower. Backing the engine is a stout 4L80 transmission - which is a powertrain known for withstanding high output engines, and commonly found on modern blown street cars - it works in conjunction with a Circle D 3,000 stall torque converter. Handling all this power, while funneling it to the ground, is a built 12-bolt rearend. And since exhaust exists through the PYPES exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers, this Chevelle has a distinct growl.

Giving the car the modern stopping power it needs is a complete CPP front disc brake kit with a CPP master cylinder and proportioning valve - the front rotors are cross-drilled and slotted. Handling comes courtesy of a heavy-duty front rear sway bar set with new bushings and links. All new dampners are fitted with heavy duty Spohn Performance tubular rear control trailing arms.

While the Chevelle has been modified with a lot of go-fast parts, most of what you see (before popping the hood) remain original. The body panel stamps are even still visible, and the floor pans are the factory originals and in exceptional condition with a satin finish.

GR Classics has this car in their inventory, but it’s been priced to sell at just under $50K, even without considering the pricey powertrain!
