This was an unapologetically brash full-size coupe back in its day.

In the late 1960s you had several options for making a statement with your car in America. One that many people preferred were the various muscle cars. This 1969 Buick Riviera was powerful and stylish, but it went in a different and equally bold direction, and now it could be yours. Chicago Car Club is offering this classic to a lucky future owner.

Buick really shot for the moon with the Riviera, even when it came to the name of the paint color for this particular car: Embassy Gold. The paint shimmers like the glittery stuff everyone loves, thanks to a fresh polishing. The same thing goes for the chrome bumpers trim pieces, and the factory wheels. A Buckskin vinyl top is also in tremendous shape. The current owner apparently only used the car during the summer, keeping it securely locked up in the garage during the harsh winter months. A few blemishes exists, which you can expect for an unmolested car of this age, but overall this Buick is in unbelievable condition.

The Buckskin interior is all original, perfectly preserving the state of this car when it rolled off the dealer lot. Surprisingly, the vinyl upholstery has held up well. Thanks to tender use, the door panels, controls, and rubber floormats are in excellent condition. There is a modern stereo deck mounted in the glovebox, plus an Alpine 12-disc changer in the trunk.

With looks like these, you need something to back it all up. The 430ci V8 does a tremendous job at that, putting 360-horsepower and a monstrous 470 lb.-ft. of torque at your disposal. The odometer reads 77,702 miles, which seems to be accurate considering the condition of this vehicle.

Launched 6 years earlier for 1963 and lasting through the 1975 model year, the Buick Riviera strove to encapsulate European-like styling and performance in more American dimensions. It was the top-of-the-line Buick and has enamored people for decades, making the car highly sought after. Rivieras today are highly collectible, especially if you can find one that’s still in factory condition.
