With a very unusual color combination, this stunning Chevy C10 is still very capable as a workhorse

Ask most people of their idea of a truck, and they will unanimously respond with the name ‘F-150’. Although many might be shouting at the screen for this common association, it isn’t without justification. After all, the Ford is America’s best selling truck and has been for many moons.

Although the divide between fans of Chevy and Ford remain at polar opposites for most looking through the viewfinder of American trends, the Chevrolet dynasty is more than worthy of a mention.

Having been building trucks for over 100 years, Chevy knows a thing or two. GM finally made their lucky break with a model lineup to take the fight to Ford, and it led us to the Silverado of today.

In 1960 a new model was unleashed, and in a world of bursting proportions in every aspect of consumerism, Chevrolet dropped a new, smaller and lighter platform, the C/K series. The model name translates to C series trucks being two wheel drive, with K series editions as four wheel drive. The number signifier afterwards identifies the weight capacity of the model.

The C10 we have here has become quite a landmark since its inception, and for good reason. With relatively compact dimensions and more streamlined styling it brought about a new segment for the industry. The days of these vehicles being seen as strictly commercial was rapidly fading, and the C10 helped lead a movement that brought many of these vehicles into typical American homes.

The C10 we have here is an epic example. With the modding community thriving with older trucks, this little beast has undergone a whole host of work to really make it as much a hotrod as it is a truck. A small block Chevy hides under the hood, complete with a grille that would remind the more knowledgeable folk of famous SS cars from the GM stable.

Although this example has clearly enjoyed quite a thorough restoration, the upgrades are in keeping with the original purchasers taste. The vehicle was ordered in black with a particularly unusual blue vinyl interior. Although the original items may have been replaced, the theme is still very much alive.

Not only does this example have the specification to die for, but the finishing touch has to be the classic Rally wheels, that whisper ‘Camaro’. With examples like this rarely coming to market, it certainly would make a unique working proposition.
